Incident Playbook
What to do when something goes wrong. Keep this visible in the lab and pit.
Immediate actions
- Stop work; ensure people are safe.
- For injury or fire: call emergency services per venue rules.
- Notify lead mentor/coach and safety lead.
Contain and secure
- Power down affected equipment if safe to do so.
- Block access to hazardous areas; post a watcher if needed.
- Preserve evidence (logs, parts) without creating new hazards.
Report
- File an incident report with: who/what/where/when, actions taken, photos if applicable.
- Note witnesses and contact info.
- Escalate to school/venue contacts if required by policy.
Follow-up
- Root cause brief within 24–48 hours; assign actions/owners/dates.
- Update Safety & Rules, checklists, and training if needed.
- Communicate changes to the team; ensure recurrence prevention.
